Full Council

Council meetings are held on the third Thursday of the month, at 7pm, in the Lodge Room at Keene Hall, Galleywood. Agendas are published on our website and noticeboards.

Members of the press and public are welcome to attend.

The Council discuss and make decisions about matters that represent the interests of the community.  Section 101 of Local Government Act, section 1972 states that a council may arrange for the discharge of any of their functions by a committee, sub-committee, an officer or any other local authority.

Finance and Resources Committee

The Finance and Resources Committee has a responsibility for:

  • reviewing and monitoring the Council’s finances
  • reviewing the Council’s Assets
  • considering Grant applications
  • agreeing the annual events programme
  • manages the provision of the Youth Club

Committee Membership
The Finance and Resources Committee has seven members

Planning and Highways Committee

Chelmsford City Council consult The Parish Council (as a statutory consultee) on all Planning applications received for Galleywood.

Applications are discussed and considered by the Planning and Highways committee at their monthly meetings.  Decisions are resolved by the committee and their comments are submitted back to Chelmsford City Council for deliberation.

Chelmsford City Council is responsible for drawing up the Local Plan which sets out the planning policies for the area and provides the framework for assessing planning applications.

The Planning and Highways Committee also consider matters relating to Highways, Parking and Open Spaces.

The Planning and Highways Committee has seven members

Planning and Highways meetings are held on the first Tuesday of each month, at 7pm in the Lodge Room at Keene Hall, Galleywood.

Personnel Committee

The Personnel Committee is responsible for all staffing matters including recruitment, contracts of employment, appraisals and salaries.

The Personnel Committee has four members

Personnel Committee meetings are held a minimum of  three times per year, at 10am in the Ron White Room at Keene Hall, Galleywood.

Members of the press and public are welcome to attend. However, they may be excluded from part of the meeting, if the item being discussed is of a confidential nature.

 

Youth Club Sub Committee

The Galleywood Youth Club is funded by the Parish Council.

The Youth Club is held in conjunction with YMCA Essex and based in Watchouse Road
